Saba Karim Opines India Don’t Need Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma In T20Is

Former Indian wicket-keeper, Saba Karim has opined that there is no need to pick the stalwarts of the game Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to represent India in T20Is. The duo was rested from the recently-concluded three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, the Men in Blue won 2-1.

Speaking with News Sports, Karim said there is no need to pick Rohit and Kohli for India’s T20I squad but, it can be considered if they have a good season in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He explained, “I feel there is no need to pick them currently. Yes, they can be considered if they do well in the IPL.”

Saba Karim went on to say that there is a chance that both Kohli and Rohit have a fantastic IPL season, and if that happens, the selectors will not be able to look beyond them.

Former wicket-keeper explained, “There is a chance that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will have a fantastic IPL season. If that happens, the selectors will not be able to look beyond them. The same happened in Dinesh Karthik’s case last year.”

India registered a 91-run win over Sri Lanka in Rajkot to clinch the three-match T20I series 2-1. Earlier, India had won the first match of the series in Mumbai by a slender margin of just a couple of runs. This was followed by Sri Lanka’s 16-run win over the hosts in the second T20I in Pune.
