Former India wicket-keeping batter Saba Karim has opined that Australia will be facing a tough Indian bowling attack in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India is set to face Australia in the opening Test of the four-match series at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur on February 9.
Speaking to India News Sports, Saba Karim said Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja complement each other very well and they will make run-scoring difficult for the visiting batters. He said, “Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja complement each other. They don’t give batters any space to score runs easily as they both can attack the edge of the bat. Jadeja’s ball can come in and can also turn away.”
He said that not many teams have such a bowling combination, adding that Nathan Lyon doesn’t have the carom ball in his arsenal, which could affect his performances.

Saba Karim elaborated, “Ashwin can get the inside edge with his regular off-spinners and his carrom ball increases the chances of the outside edge. Not many teams have such a bowling combination. The majority of Nathan Lyon’s wickets come from inside edges. He doesn’t have the carrom ball.”
Karim said India has a very balanced bowling attack, insisting that India’s pace-bowling attack is also brilliant.
Praising India’s bowling attack, Saba Karim said, “India have a very balanced bowling attack. However, the spinners still have the upper hand. But our pace bowlers also back them up brilliantly. They know how to extract reverse swing in Indian conditions. It is very important to go into the match with the right fast bowlers.”
Former gloveman also added that Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami have done really well in Indian conditions, adding that the Australians would be facing a tough bowling attack.

Pointing out India’s fast bowling skills, Saba Karim said, “We have Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami who have done exceptionally well in these conditions. Mohammed Siraj is another emerging pacer who knows where to pitch the ball and how to use the reverse swing. The Australian batters are under great pressure, as they will be facing a tough bowling attack.”
