Indian cricket great Sachin Tendulkar celebrated a milestone on Thursday, August 29: his mother Rajni Tendulkar’s 87th birthday. Known for close family ties, Tendulkar has, throughout every juncture of his illustrious career also in retirement made it a point to harp on the loved ones he values so much. The relationship which he shares with his family, most of all his mother, had always been an influencing factor, and quite often, Tendulkar reveals fragments about their moments shared together.
In one such heartwarming picture shared on social media, Rajni Tendulkar cuts her birthday cake with the members of her family present in full attendance. All the joy and love stood out in the photo as Tendulkar dove into the deep love he feels for his mother.

“Having all of us together for Aai’s birthday is the best thing one could ask for. We love you so much, Aai. You mean the world to us. Happy birthday! तुझ्या प्रेमाच्या सावलीतच आम्ही सुखी आहोत. वाढदिवसाच्या शुभेच्छा, आई” he wrote on X, reflecting the warmth and gratitude he feels for her.

The strong bonding between son and mother is not new, as the people who have been tracking Tendulkar’s journey would say. The cricketing genius let out one heart-touching information about his last match during his last Test match in 2013. He had asked the BCCI to schedule the match in Mumbai so that his mother could catch a glimpse of his last match as a surprise.
“I had requested BCCI to keep my farewell match in Mumbai so that my mother can see me playing. I wanted it to be a surprise; she came to know from you all-the media. My mother was extremely happy to see me play. I had requested the MCA to keep a room for me at the guesthouse, but my mother preferred to sit and watch every ball. And when I went up to the President’s box, I could see that in her eyes,” Tendulkar revealed during his farewell speech.
