Sachin Tendulkar Feels People Should Get Inspired From Don Bradman

When the batting legend, Sachin Tendulkar was making a name for himself in the 90s, there were a plethora of his comparisons with another legend, Don Bradman as it, later on, became the talk of two centuries. The former Australia skipper hanged his boots from international cricket n 1948 but no one in decades could challenge his position of being the greatest of all time. But then came a certain Tendulkar who changed the course of world cricket with his brilliance and mindblowing records.

These debates still remain years after Tendulkar’s retirement as well. However, both the legends shared immense the mutual respect that the two legends shared amongst themselves speaks of nothing but greatness. Today, on the former Australian captain’s 112th birth anniversary, Sachin went on to share a famous picture of him with Bradman.

The said picture was taken when he met Bradman, who had invited Tendulkar along with legendary spinner Shane Warne, at his home in Adelaide for his 90th birthday in the year 1998.

Tweeting about the same, Sachin wrote: “Sir Don Bradman was away from Cricket bat and ball for several years due to World War II, yet has the highest Test batting average. Today, with concerns about athletes’ form due to uncertainties & long breaks, his career stands even taller as a source of inspiration. Happy birthday Sir Don.”

In his post for Bradman’s birthday, Sachin went on to remind the entire sporting fraternity of Bradman’s inspirational journey despite World War II. Sachin reckons that the current sportsperson, who has had to face the hurdle of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, can derive inspiration from Bradman’s journey to come out all guns blazing despite all the difficulties.

The great Don Bradman, born on August 27, 1908, played 52 Tests for Australia from 1928 to 1948 and retired with a batting average of 99.94, a record no one even imagined of coming close to, that remains the best in the history of the sport. Bradman passed away on 25 February 2001 at his Kensington Park home, where he met Tendulkar and Warne, at the age of 92.
