Indian cricket came together in mourning on Sunday as tributes poured in for legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, who passed away at 92. Her voice, which defined generations of music lovers, also held a special place in cricket dressing rooms, where her songs often formed the backdrop to team bonding and quiet moments before big games.

Among those deeply affected was Sachin Tendulkar, who described her as family. Taking to social media, Tendulkar expressed heartfelt grief, calling it a profoundly sad day not just for India but for music lovers worldwide. He reflected on how her melodies transcended time, adding that while her passing leaves a void, her voice will remain eternal through the countless songs she gifted the world.

Tributes also came in from Gautam Gambhir, who praised Bhosle’s elegance and unmatched talent. Asha Bhosle passed away at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai due to multi-organ failure, as confirmed by doctors. She had reportedly been admitted a day earlier after experiencing extreme exhaustion and a chest infection. Her son, Anand Bhosle, later confirmed the news and shared details of her final rites.

The public will have an opportunity to pay their respects at her residence in Lower Parel before the last rites are conducted at Shivaji Park.
