Sachin Tendulkar Has A Special Birthday Message For His Friend

Legendary Indian cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar took to Instagram to wish his “fellow Taurean” and cricketer friend Brian Lara on his 51st birthday. The Indian batting great and the West Indies legend recently played against each other in the Road Safety World Series in March and Sachin recalled some memories of that meet in his heartfelt birthday wish.

Captioning the picture of both of them on Instagram, Sachin wrote: “Wishing my fellow Taurean a very happy birthday. It was great fun catching up with you recently. Have a great one, Prince! Look forward to seeing you soon. Take care.”

Tendulkar and Lara were among former cricketers who reconsidered to the field for the Road Safety World Series in India. The World Series was planned as an annual Twenty20 tournament played between retired cricketers from five countries – Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and India.

The Road Safety World Series was scheduled to take place between February 2 to 16 across India, however, it was indefinitely postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Sachin, who celebrated his 47th birthday on April 24, is the world’s leading scorer in Tests and ODIs, amassing more than 34,000 runs and 100 centuries in a 24-year career that ended in 2013.

Left-handed batsman, Lara holds the record for the highest individual score in Test cricket. The West Indies great remained unbeaten on 400 against England in Antigua in 2004. Lara made his Test debut against Pakistan in 1990 and went on to play 131 matches for the Caribbean team.

Brian Lara amassed as many as 11,953 runs with the help of 34 centuries and 48 half-centuries in the longest format of the game. In 1994, Lara smashed 501 runs, the highest individual score in first-class cricket, as he went past Pakistan’s Hanif Mohammad who had scored 499. Lara also represented the West Indies in 299 ODIs. He scored over 10,000 runs in the 50-over format and slammed 19 centuries during his 17-year long career.
