After getting bowled out on 250 runs in their first innings, the Indian bowlers were much disciplined against the hosts batting line-up. On the rain-interrupted day 3, Indian bowlers bundled out them for 235 runs as the visitors had a 15-run lead at the end of the first-innings clashes.

In that innings, the Australian middle-order batsman Travis Head scored 72 runs while none of the other batsmen reached the 40-run marks. Among the Indian bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah (3/47) and Ravichandran Ashwin (3/57) claimed three wickets each while Mohammed Shami (2/58) and Ishant Sharma (2/47) picked up two wickets each.

Coming to bat again, the Indian openers KL Rahul and Murali Vijay had a 63-run partnership before Vijay was caught out on 18 runs. Rahul was playing in a very good way as he scored 44 off 67 balls (3 fours and only six) before losing his wicket after playing a loose shot that found an edge to the keeper.

Later, the legendary Indian cricketer tweeted his feeling about this game where he claimed that India is in the driving seat at present and Australia needs to bowl well in the first session of the fourth day to return in the game.

Tendulkar posted, “As of now, India is in the driver’s seat and all set to take the game away. Australia need to bowl well in the first session tomorrow to stay in the game, otherwise they go to the next Test down 1-0.”
