There is no denying to the fact that it has been a regular habit that cricketers have been considering to ply their trade in politics. One of the prime examples can be former Pakistani cricketer Imran Khan, who eventually went on to become the Honourable Prime Minister of the country. Even Indian cricketers from the likes of Mohammad Azharuddin and Navjot Singh Sidhu have tasted the flavor of politics after announcing to hang their boots from cricket.

However, at times, the political parties also attempted to reach out to the prominent cricketers in order to gain a significant mileage for the elections. Recently, a Rajasthan-based party used Virender Sehwag’s picture in one of their marketing campaigns. Later, the Nawab of Najafgarh cleared the air over the matter and slammed the political party for misusing his name.

Now, it has been learned that the renowned Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has used the photo of Sachin Tendulkar. A photo of the former Indian cricketer, wearing a saffron-colored Kurta was doing the rounds in various Facebook groups. The promotional photo also took a dig at its competitor Congress and asked the supporters to welcome the Master Blaster to their fraternity.

It was later understood that Sachin’s actually taken from somewhere else and it was morphed with the party’s photo. A reverse image of Sachin’s photo from the party’s post showed that the same is from back in 2015 when Sachin visited the Siddhivinayak temple for his 42nd birthday. He and his family were also listed as the ‘visitor of the day’ by the website.

Along with Sachin, wife Anjali and their children- Sara and Anjali- also went to the temple. The legendary cricketer is an ardent devotee of Siddhivanayak and he also went there prior to the release of his biopic ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’ back on May 23, 2017. As far as politics is concerned, Sachin was a part of the Rajya Sabha, the term of which ended in April 2018.
