On Thursday, legendary Indian Indian cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar showered praises for West Indies skipper Jason Holder for bringing spinner on the Manchester pitch which was looking to be favorable for the spinners on Day 1 of the second Test at the Old Trafford. Notably, Holder, who decided to field after the delayed start due to rain in Manchester, introduced West Indies’s sole spinner Roston Chase in the 14th over.

Chase managed to get wickets on back-to0-back deliveries as he removed England opener, Rory Burns, at the stroke of the lunch, and then he dismissed Zak Crawley on the very next delivery which was bowled in the second session of Day 1. Sachin Tendulkar, who like many other cricket fans has been eagerly monitoring the Test series between England and West Indies, took to Twitter to laud Jason Holder for his smart move.

Sachin’s tweet read: “In the 1st session I noticed a few balls didn’t even carry to the keeper off fast bowlers indicating a lot of dampness in the pitch. Smart move by @Jaseholder98 to bring on a spinner on such a track where the oddball may grip and the other may go straight. #ENGvWI”.

England is missing their fiery pacer, Jofra Archer as he was found breaching the team’s bio-secure protocols while top-order batsman Joe Denly paved way for the regular skipper, Joe Root, who missed the first Test as he was on the paternity leave. Mark Wood and James Anderson have also been rested with the trio of Stuart Broad, Sam Curran, and Chris Woakes named in the playing 11.

This is not the first time when Sachin has praised the WI skipper as he had rated Jason Holder as probably the most underrated all-rounder in the world currently.

During a recent chat with batting legend, Brian Lara, Sachin said, “Jason Holder is the most underrated all-rounder, because on the field, maybe you will look at Kemar Roach or Shannon Gabriel, but Jason Holder only when you look at the scoreboard, you realize that he has come in and taken three wickets.”
