Sachin Tendulkar heaps praises on Shaw and Gill

India U19 won their fourth title in New Zealand on February 3, 2018. Its only one year down the lane and two players of that team have already made it to the senior team of India. Shubhman Gill and Prithvi Shaw have come leaps to make their international debut at an early age. Both are just 19 and already are seeing as the future star of Team India.

Now, legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has lauded both Shaw and Gill by saying that both of them have massive potential but added that the youngsters should enjoy their cricket. Sachin feels he was aware of Shaw’s talent and knew he will play for India one day. On the other hand, he praised Gill’s consistency at the domestic level.

“I’ve spoken about Prithvi earlier as well, having watched him bat in the nets as a little boy, all of 8-9 years of age, he had something special even back then. I knew instantly that he would play for India,” Tendulkar told TOI.

“Shubhman also played a crucial role in last year’s U-19 World Cup and has had a good domestic season, so both of them (Prthivi and Shubhman) have a lot of potential. Having said that, these boys have just started playing for India and they should enjoy their cricket,” he further added.

Young Shaw made his Test debut against West Indies in October last year, where he amassed a century on debut innings. He added more runs to his kitty in the second Test and received player of the series award for his heroics with the bat. He was named in the Indian team for Australia Tests, but unfortunately, he injured his ankle. The injury got provoked and ruled him out of the series.

Meanwhile, Gill was making some noise with his bat at the domestic arena. His consistency was keenly noticing by everyone. Hence, it didn’t take long to make his One-Day International debut. He batted at number three in the absence of Virat Kohli. However, he failed to impress in his first two ODI matches.
