Sachin Tendulkar Recalls Brian Lara’s Special Gift On His Retirement

The Indian batting legend, Sachin Tendulkar recalled his last ever international outing in cricket and also reminisced the special things presented to him by the West Indian cricket board. He has also received a special gift which was presented to him by another legend Brian Lara. It is well-known that Master Blaster decided to and his boots from international cricket on November 16, 2013.

The cricketing fraternity took time to sink in the fact that the ultimate hero of cricket walked off the field for the last time. His illustrious career spanning over two decades is so full of records that it would be boasted for long in times to come. He bid adieu to international cricket after his 200th Test match against West Indies.

Sachin’s Tendulkar’s milestone Test outing came at the place where he received so much love and respect for all these years, Mumbai. In his recent tweet, Tendulkar added that he would always be happy to have that wonderful gift by his side, which was presented to him by Lara.

The batting legend thanked the entire West Indies fraternity for a great gift (a steel drum) and acknowledged their huge love and respect. He tweeted: “OnthisDay 7 years ago, @windiescricket and my friend @BrianLara& @henrygayle presented me with this beautiful steel drum. I will always be grateful for such a wonderful gift and thank them for their love and respect. Thank you once again.”

When the terrific batsman played the lats game of his international career, he was all ready to leave the game on a great and respectful note. Sachin Tendulkar scored 74 runs in his last Test and was caught by Daren Sammy off Narsingh Deonarine. After the iconic Test, Tendulkar gave a speech at the Wankhede Stadium, which left all the fans in tears for that moment.

Tendulkar played his final World Cup in 2011 while he was 37 when the Men in Blue lifted the trophy in utmost style by defeating Sri Lanka. When Team India lifted the trophy, Sachin became part of the WC winning squad for the first time in his sparkling career. The fact that he was India’s leading run-scorer in the tournament added the cherry on the cake.
