One of the common Indian cricket debates is about choosing the Best Indian captain ever. While many swear by the name of Saurav Ganguly and few remember how Azharuddin led the team, the current generation favors MS Dhoni. If we go by the winning achievements, Dhoni has managed to win almost everything on the cricket ground.
T20 World Cup 2007, Cricket World Cup 2011, Number one ranking in Test matches, Champions Trophy 2013, IPL Trophies and Champions League T20. No other captain in the world has on so many trophies and has these many achievements up his sleeves. He was first seen captaining the Indian T20I team and was later escalated to the captaincy of the Test team after Anil Kumble retired.

India’s greatest cricketer had a say in the appointment of MS Dhoni as the Indian Test captain. It was Sachin Tendulkar who had spotted the captaincy skills of Dhoni in a subtle way. He discussed how he gauged the leadership qualities of the Ranchi Wicket-keeper while fielding beside him.
Recently, in a chat show with Gaurav Kapoor named “Breakfast with Champions”, Sachin Tendulkar shared his experience with MSD earlier in the career of the keeper batsman. “Whenever I used to be fielding in the slips, I would be discussing with him, constantly, about the fielding positions. I would place my opinions and then he would place his and it was during these interactions that I picked.” Sachin remarked.

To this, the host Gaurav Kapoor quirkily made a comment about how MS went through a job interview for the post of Indian Test captain without knowing it. Dhoni captained India in 60 Tests with 27 wins and 18 losses. He holds the record for captaining in the most number of Test matches for India and also the most Test wins for India as a captain.
Dhoni gave up his Test captaincy and his Test wicketkeeping midway in the Australian tour of 2014. He continued with ODI captaincy though and later handed it to Virat Kohli. Currently, he is captaining his IPL Franchise Chennai Super Kings.
Amidst the show, Sachin also revealed that his wife never attended any of his matches, while most of the WAGs of Indian cricketers are often seen at the stands cheering for their teams. Well, the reason that Tendulkar revealed is a bit superstitious. He recalled an incident when all the wives of other cricketers forced his wife Anjali to company them to the stadium and she refused saying that she is superstitious. Also, the master blaster himself didn’t like his family coming to the stadium because that would distract his focus. He said that Anjali told him that she doesn’t want to come.
After hearing that superstitious reason, the wives of other cricketers came with a master plan, they said that they will hide her from getting notices. Anjali then agreed to visit the stands. Recalling the day, Sachin Tendulkar then revealed that the match was the Boxing Day Test Match. Brett Lee was bowling and Sachin got ‘caught out’ in the first ball. That was the moment when Anjali stood up and suddenly went off the stadium. Since then, Anjali never watched Sachin playing live in the stadium. She only arrived stadium to watch Sachin play again during his last Test Match.
