Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar added another special moment to his storied connection with Lord’s by ringing the iconic bell to signal the start of the third Test between India and England on Thursday, July 10. The match, part of the ongoing five-Test Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series, is being played at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

The bell-ringing ceremony at Lord’s, introduced in 2007, is a cherished tradition, reserved for cricketing greats. Tendulkar now joins an elite list of Indian legends like Sunil Gavaskar, Sourav Ganguly, and Rahul Dravid, who have all rung the bell to mark the start of a day’s play at the “Home of Cricket.” The moment was captured and widely shared on social media, with fans and broadcasters celebrating the occasion across platforms.

As for the Test itself, England skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and elected to bat first. Both teams made one change each. For India, the big boost came in the form of Jasprit Bumrah, the world’s No. 1 Test bowler, returning to the XI after being rested for the Edgbaston Test due to workload management. He replaced Prasidh Krishna.

England welcomed back pace sensation Jofra Archer, who returned to Test cricket after more than four years, replacing Josh Tongue. Despite inconsistent performances, players like Shoaib Bashir, Zak Crawley, and Brydon Carse have been given another opportunity to make their mark.

Historically, Lord’s hasn’t been the happiest hunting ground for India. In 19 Tests played at the venue over 93 years, the visitors have secured just three wins—coming in 1986, 2014, and the memorable 2021 clash under Virat Kohli, where India outclassed Joe Root’s England by 151 runs. Now, under Shubman Gill, they’ll look to repeat history.
