Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar has said that there is a strong possibility of including both the spinners – Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin in India’s playing eleven for the inaugural World Test Championship final against New Zealand. Notably, the match will start on Friday at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

“I don’t like to interfere in team combination but there is a strong case (to play both Jadeja and Ashwin). Both can bat and create serious partnerships,” Tendulkar told India Today.

Sachin Tendulkar also added that it is a misconception that spinners don’t get help in England. “When people talk about spinners not getting assistance in England, I feel they get different kind of assistance compared to what you get in India,” said the batting maestro.

“People talk about surface but no one talks about what happens in the air. A quality spinner will be able to drift the ball in the air. If you use the conditions smartly you can deceive the batsman in the air. It doesnt have to be that the off spinner has to get an inside edge and get him out at short leg. You can drift the ball and while he is blocking, it can take the outside edge and go to first slip,” again shared the former India captain.

“Let’s not be fix minded and say there is not enough help. A quality spinner can bowl anywhere and I am sure Ashwin and Jadeja know which side to keep the shine, depending on what they want to do. The tendency is to say that there is not enough off the surface but you can do enough in the air,” concluded Sachin Tendulkar.

Meanwhile, New Zealand speedster Tim Southee is aware that the Indian team has a strong batting lineup with the players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in their kitty and the pacer said that the Kiwi bowlers will have to be their best to succeed as well.

“Rohit is a tremendous player in all three formats. He’s personally a guy I like watching bat. He can take the game away from opposition. But I know as a bowling group that it’s a dangerous batting lineup throughout. For he’s only one of many, many very good batters in this lineup and we know we’re gonna have to be on top of our game. It’s an exciting batting lineup, a mix of experienced guys and a couple of young guys who are coming to play with that freedom and the excitement that that they have. Nowadays, there’s plenty of footage out. So, we will discuss footage and then come up with plans which will hopefully work,” Tim Southee concluded.
