Sachin Tendulkar may have retired from international cricket in 2013, but the cricket icon continues to inspire fans through his globe-trotting adventures. From scenic beaches in Goa to lush landscapes in Kerala and now international expeditions, Tendulkar frequently shares glimpses of his journeys. On Friday, he posted a throwback video from his African adventure in 2023, recounting an unforgettable moment in Kenya’s famed Maasai Mara.

In the video, Sachin Tendulkar can be seen standing under a shade with a small aircraft in the background as he narrates how a sudden storm left him stranded mid-journey.

“We were inside the aircraft, and you could see the storm approaching. Originally, we were supposed to land exactly where that storm is now. We were just about two miles away from the landing strip, but due to the bad weather, we couldn’t land,” Tendulkar recalled.

The former India captain explained how the pilots had to attempt an emergency landing elsewhere, only to find wildebeest occupying the makeshift runway. “We had to come down low twice to scare them away before finally landing safely,” he said, reliving the thrilling episode.

Away from his travel tales, Tendulkar also addressed another matter in the headlines. On Thursday, he firmly denied rumours linking him to the BCCI President’s post. His management firm issued a statement calling such reports “unfounded” and clarified that no discussions had taken place.

“It has come to our attention that certain reports and rumours have been circulating regarding Mr. Sachin Tendulkar being considered, or nominated, for the position of President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). We categorically state that no such development has taken place,” the statement read.

With BCCI elections scheduled for September 28, speculation had been rife about successors to outgoing chief Roger Binny. Tendulkar’s clarification has now put those rumours to rest.
