Pakistan cricket team’s inability to reach the final of the ongoing Asia Cup hasn’t gone well with the former cricketers and understandably they lashed out on Sarfraz Ahmed and his men. The Men in Green were the favorites when the tournament started and they began with a dominating win over Hong Kong. But the matches against India put them under immense pressure and they lost their plot. They lost against Bangladesh in a must-win game and their premier bowler Saeed Ajmal has come down hard on the team for their dull performance.

Imam-ul-Haq was the lone warrior from Pakistan

Chasing a decent total of 240 runs, Pakistan top-order collapsed again as they were down to 18/3 in no time. Shoaib Malik once again came to the rescue along with Imam-ul-Haq. But once the former was sent back, it was all one-way traffic again as they could only reach 202 runs in 50 overs.

Ajmal had some harsh words for his team and also said he felt ashamed while watching them bat against Bangladesh in a virtual semi-final. As quoted in Pak session, he said, “These are the teams that used to be scared of hearing Pakistan’s name, they would lose the match after hearing the name of Pakistan. Now these team’s bowlers are showing eyes to our batsmen, daring us to do anything. This is what it has come to. The performance was so bad that I felt ashamed watching the match against Bangladesh.”

Sarfraz and his men were outplayed by India not once but twice in the tournament and the much-awaited rivalry ended up being one-sided. While they faced an 8-wicket loss in the group stage match, the Super Four tussle was even more discouraging as India romped home with nine wickets and more than 10 overs to spare chasing 238 runs.

Ajmal believed that India-Pakistan matches were like kids playing against the legends and said, “Against India, we played like kids who they have raised.”
