Gujarat Titans (GT) batter Sai Sudharsan was elated after playing a match-winning knock against Delhi Capitals (DC) as he thanked skipper, Hardik Pandya for backing him after winning his maiden Player of the Match award in his IPL career on Monday. Sai Sudharshan and Vijay Shankar, who came in as the Impact Player, contributed significantly to Gujarat’s innings, adding 53 runs for the fourth wicket.

After receiving the player of the game, Sai Sudharsan said, “Thanks for backing me. A little bit nervous as this is my first award. I was thinking about what needs to be done right. I wasn’t under pressure.”

Sai Sudharasan, who played a match-winning knock of 62 runs, and Miller, who eased the pressure with two sixes off Mukesh Kumar, were brilliant with the bat as they made a partnership of 50 runs off just 28 deliveries, and went on to complete the chase successfully with 11 deliveries to spare, thereby handing their team the second win on the trot.

Gujarat Titans maintained their winning streak in the IPL as collective efforts from different cricketers helped the defending champions keep their form going as they handed Delhi Capitals their second consecutive defeat.

Explaining the same, Sai Sudharsan said, “It was a bit low and skidding, I planned to take the game deep. Weathering the storm (was more satisfying). It was seaming initially, I played late and that was the highlight for me.”

The Titans will next be locking horns with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at their home ground, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, on Sunday, April 9.
