Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma, and Harshit Rana have been named as replacements for Shivam Dube, Sanju Samson, and Yashasvi Jaiswal in India’s squad for the first two T20Is against Zimbabwe. Dube, Samson, and Jaiswal, key members of the Indian squad that clinched the T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and the Caribbean, are currently stranded in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl.
With the Indian team scheduled to arrive in Delhi on Wednesday, July 3, the BCCI has decided to send Sudharsan, Jitesh, and Harshit to Harare for the initial matches of the series. Dube, Samson, and Jaiswal will travel back to India with the World Cup squad before heading to Harare.
“The Men’s Selection Committee has named Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma, and Harshit Rana as replacements for Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, and Yashasvi Jaiswal for the first two T20Is against Zimbabwe,” the BCCI announced.

“Originally slated to join the Zimbabwe-bound squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series starting Saturday, 6th July, the trio will travel to India first with the rest of the ICC T20 World Cup-winning Indian squad before departing for Harare,” the statement continued.

India’s squad for the 1st and 2nd T20I against Zimbabwe includes:
Shubman Gill (Captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Riyan Parag, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, Tushar Deshpande, Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma (WK), Harshit Rana.

Sai Sudharsan and Harshit Rana demonstrated impressive performances during the IPL 2024 season. The Tamil Nadu batter, Sudharsan, scored 527 runs in 12 matches, while Harshit Rana took 19 wickets in 13 matches, making him the second-highest wicket-taker for Kolkata Knight Riders as they won the IPL 2024 title. The primary group of players, along with coach VVS Laxman, departed for Harare on July 2. The series opener is scheduled for July 6, with the series running until July 14.
