India batter Sai Sudharsan suffered a knee injury while fielding for Tamil Nadu during their Ranji Trophy match against Rajasthan at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday. The incident occurred early on Day 2, raising concerns about the left-hander’s fitness and availability for the remainder of the match.

Sai Sudharsan was stationed in the covers when he attempted to stop a drive from Rajasthan batter Karan Lamba. After making the stop, the 24-year-old went down on the ground and appeared to experience discomfort. The team physiotherapist immediately attended to him, but Sudharsan struggled to walk and required assistance from a support staff member to leave the field.
According to sources within the Tamil Nadu camp, the injury occurred after the ball struck Sudharsan’s knee and was not considered serious. The batter was seen applying an ice pack in the dugout, with hopes that he would return to the field if the discomfort did not worsen.

Sai Sudharsan joined Tamil Nadu’s playing XI at the last minute after travelling from Puducherry, where he had been representing India A against Australia A. He reportedly arrived around 10 pm on Saturday, with his inclusion catching several members of the Tamil Nadu squad by surprise.
The left-hander endured a modest return in the India A series, managing just one half-century across four red-ball innings. He also recorded scores of one and 13 in the two unofficial ODIs against Australia A.

His recovery from the latest setback will be important as he looks to regain full fitness ahead of the upcoming assignment.
