The third T20I between South Africa and India is set for Wednesday, November 13, at SuperSport Park in Centurion. With the series level at 1-1, this match is a crucial decider as both sides look to avoid a series loss. Sairaj Bahutule, serving as India’s interim bowling coach for the series, has highlighted how the role of spinners has significantly evolved in T20 cricket. Reflecting on the last game, where India defended a low target of 124 at St. George’s Park, Bahutule discussed the importance of bravery and adaptability for spinners in the fast-paced T20 format.

“Spin bowling has evolved. You have to be brave, you have to be courageous,” Sairaj Bahutule explained in a BCCI video. “Each ball is an event. I think our bowling in the last game was exceptional. The bowlers and fielders did a fabulous job defending 124 runs.”

Bahutule, a seasoned coach, emphasized that India’s current bowling lineup has little need for technical adjustments due to their extensive experience in both the IPL and international arenas.

“These are experienced players who’ve played a lot of IPL and international cricket,” he said. “Our focus is to keep it simple and ensure they play to their strengths and maximize their potential.” Bahutule expressed confidence in the team’s preparation and looked forward to securing the series win.

Meanwhile, India’s interim batting coach, Hrishikesh Kanitkar, shared his thoughts on the squad’s approach to T20 batting. Despite facing a modest target in the previous game, Kanitkar praised the team’s resilience and close defense effort. He noted that in T20 cricket, a lot hinges on making the right choices with shot selection. “

Nobody usually thinks 124 can be defended, but we came close. It’s about the choices—the areas to target, the balls you pick for big shots,” Hrishikesh Kanitkar explained. The interim coach added that the team’s confidence remains high, backed by their preparation and understanding of T20’s intricacies.
