Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt has advised Rishabh Pant to work on his batting technique and mindset in order to succeed in Test cricket. He also turns down the comparisons between Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist and Pant.
Rishabh Pant hasn’t had a good time so far in England during the ongoing five-match Test series involving India and England. He is getting out while trying to play big shots and hasn’t looked at his best.

Salman Butt believes Pant is not even half as good as Adam Gilchrist was during his hay days.
“Please don’t compare a player (Rishabh Pant) with 2-3 years experience with a world-class player like Adam Gilchrist. Gilchrist was outright match-winner. He used to dominate world-class bowlers during his time. Now, only a few top-class pacers are there and Pant has played only a few good knocks so far,” Butt said on his YouTube channel.
He, further, advised Pant to work on his batting technique and mindset in order to succeed in Test cricket.

“Gilchrist was a big imposing figure and Pant is not even half of Gilchrist. Gilly was a different kind of batsman altogether. Pant has to make some changes to his current technique and make some mental adjustments in Test cricket. He has to set in the crease before going for shots. He doesn’t have plan B which is very necessary on pitches like England,” added Butt.
In the ongoing fourth Test, Team India conceded a 99-run lead as Ollie Pope and Chris Woakes scored vital fifties in their comeback Test match for England. Indian batsmen will have to work hard if they want to remain in the series and will be required to play big innings.
