The speculations of being a rift between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are very old but they never seem to completely wipe out. Recently, Virat Kohli stepped down from the captaincy of India’s T20I squad and Rohit Sharma is named his successor to lead the team now.

Meanwhile, Salman Butt feels there is a possibility of having different opinions but there are no chances of any conflict.

“Whenever there are two different individuals, it (conflict of opinion) is possible, but their domains are different. One is leading the T20 side and the other the ODI and Test teams. They have played some very good cricket together and I haven’t heard of any issues between the two. I think mostly they are in-line and they understand each other,” Salman Butt said on his YouTube channel during a Q & A session.

He also spoke about how both of them are intelligent individuals.

“They know their domain. So if they work within it, there shouldn’t be any problem. On many issues, their thinking is likely to be parallel because they have been captain and vice-captain. So, the think tank is the same and they must be taking decisions as a combined unit. You cannot deny the possibility of a conflict but the chances are very low,” he added.

Rohit Sharma’s fans have been voicing to make him the captain of the Indian team while pointing out Virat Kohli’s inability to win trophies with his captaincy. BCCI was also thinking of split captaincy but they never come up with a concrete plan to implement the same. But Kohli leaving the captaincy resulted in having a different captain for a different format.
