Rizvi’s innings was a lesson in composure and calculated aggression. He began cautiously, assessing conditions before shifting gears seamlessly. Reflecting on his approach, Sameer Rizvi highlighted the work he has put in to improve against pace bowling.

“I’ve worked a lot. I’ve worked on my weaknesses, I wasn’t as good against fast bowlers,” he said. “I try to play according to the situation. I took time, got set and then played my shots. I tried to watch the ball as long as possible.”

Earlier in the match, the Mumbai Indians posted a competitive 162, thanks largely to a fluent half-century from Suryakumar Yadav. Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir also made useful contributions with 35 and 28 respectively, helping MI recover after a shaky start. For Delhi, Mukesh Kumar stood out with two crucial wickets, while Axar Patel, Lungi Ngidi, and Vipraj Nigam chipped in with one each.

Delhi’s chase began steadily, with Pathum Nissanka providing a solid platform with a well-made 44. Once he departed, Sameer Rizvi took complete control of the innings, finding boundaries at will and ensuring the required rate never became a concern.
