Figures of 4-0-22-3 with scalps of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers are beyond words in the world of cricket. Sandeep Sharma’s swinging spell in the powerplay swung the favour of the match in Kings XI Punjab’s way.

The 23-year old right-arm pacer has been consistent with his line and length in the IPL for some years now. He is the key to Punjab’s bowling, especially in the powerplay. Sharma rides mostly on swing. The same is also reflected by his mode of dismissals.

In today’s match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab, Sharma dismissed Gayle in the first over itself. In his next over he dismissed their captain, Virat Kohli. In his third over, he got rid of de Villiers.

Sharma has picked 68 wickets in 52 IPL matches at an average of 21.60 and an economy rate of 7.76. His strike rate of 16.69 further adds laurels to his bowling. In this season of the IPL, Sharma has clinched 14 wickets in nine matches. An economy of 8.48 might be on the higher side as compared to earlier numbers but he has covered it with his average (20) and strike rate 14.14. Watch the video of Sharma’s spell:
