Punjab Kings have announced the exciting return of Sanjay Bangar as their new Head of Cricket Development, ahead of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Welcoming Bangar back with open arms, the franchise expressed their confidence in his leadership and expertise to elevate their cricket development programs to new heights.

In a press release, Bangar expressed his gratitude and excitement about rejoining the Punjab Kings family. He acknowledged the team’s strong core of players and highlighted the minimal player releases as a testament to their potential. He emphasized his commitment to providing the squad with the best possible support throughout and beyond the season, ultimately aiming to strengthen the team and deliver the much-awaited success.

Bangar will closely collaborate with head coach Trevor Bayliss, and his first assignment in his new role will be the crucial IPL 2024 player auction, scheduled for December 19th in Dubai. This marks a historic first, as the IPL auction will be held outside India for the first time ever.
This isn’t Bangar’s first stint with the Kings. He initially joined as assistant coach in 2014, rising to the position of head coach for three successful seasons. He eventually moved on to pursue national duty as the Indian cricket team’s batting coach, followed by a stint as batting consultant and head coach for Royal Challengers Bangalore. With his contract expiring at the end of IPL 2023, Bangar is now back with the Kings, ready to contribute his vast experience and knowledge to their growth and success.
