Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar heaped praise on Jasprit Bumrah for his outstanding performance on Day 2 of the first Test against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Bumrah, who spearheaded India’s bowling attack, played a key role in dismissing Bangladesh for a paltry 149, finishing with impressive figures of 4 for 50.

“We all know about his variations and his sharp thinking as a fast bowler,” Manjrekar said. “Today, we saw a level of ruthlessness in how he bowled to Taskin. The most remarkable thing about Bumrah is that he’s a bowler without a weakness, no matter the opposition or the pitch conditions. That’s the ultimate measure of greatness. Indian cricket is incredibly fortunate to have him.”

 

Sanjay Manjrekar also took to Twitter, where he expressed similar sentiments, writing: “Is there anything more to say about Bumrah as a champion bowler? He is a bowler with only strengths, zero weaknesses—truly the yardstick for greatness.”

Alongside Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, and Ravindra Jadeja contributed with two wickets each, helping India secure a commanding 227-run lead by dismissing Bangladesh in just 47.1 overs.

Ravichandran Ashwin, despite going wicketless in the first innings at his home ground, had already left his mark on the match with a century on Day 1, showcasing his all-round value to the team.
