Former Indian cricketer turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar believes that Rishabh Pant’s batting form is important for his side, Delhi Capitals (DC) in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022). While speaking on ESNPcricinfo, Manjrekar added that DC need some firework in their middle order and he also shared that Pant and Rovman Powell need to step up consistently as well.

Sanjay Manjrekar said: “Rishabh Pant hasn’t fired completely and the same is the case with Powell’s form. Lalit Yadav bats and bowls but we cannot look at him as a pure batter. They need some help down the order and this is why Pant finding form is very important for them. Both Prithvi Shaw and David Warner are high-risk players and there might be a problem if they lose a couple of early wickets.”

Notably, Delhi Capitals have suffered a 16-run loss in their previous match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). They will try to bounce back with an improved performance in their upcoming games as well. They will take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 32nd match of the season at the Brabourne Stadium on Wednesday (April 20).

However, Sanjay Manjrekar also added that it might be challenging for Kuldeep Yadav to bowl at the Brabourne Stadium, owing to the conditions at the venue. He added that it would be interesting to see how he would perform on such a wicket.

Manjrekar added: “Kuldeep Yadav’s return has been the story of the season so far. It will be a test for him at the Brabourne Stadium and it remains to be seen if he can make an impact like how Yuzvendra Chahal did at the venue.”

He again stated that Punjab Kings (PBKS) should not depend much on rookie pacer Vaibhav Arora. The youngster, although have been doing well in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL 2022), taking three wickets so far. He stated that Kagiso Rabada and Arshdeep Singh are the two most dependable bowlers in the team’s lineup.

“Vaibhav Arora is a hit-and-miss kind of bowler for PBKS. It is like a gamble. But Kagiso Rabada and Arshdeep Singh are their reliable bowlers. Odean Smith hasn’t bowled well and he isn’t getting a lot of overs as well. They should look to be less dependent on Arora and rather focus more on their spin department. Jonny Bairstow is a big player and has a good track record. But I feel he should get just one more chance now because Bhanuka Rajapaksa has shown good form. They could also bring Rajapaksa back in place of Odean Smith. They can add an Indian spinner like Harpreet Brar,” Sanjay Manjrekar concluded.
