Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson looked at him very best excellent behind the wickets as he effected a brilliant stumping of well-set Delhi Capitals (DC) batsman, Shreyas Iyer. The two teams are facing off in the day game on Saturday. On a hot sunny afternoon in Abu Dhabi, DC was asked to bat first.

Signs of a slow pitch were seen early on when Shikhar Dhawan inside-edged a delivery which strolled down towards his stumps. Prithvi Shaw followed suit as he was unable to adjust the pitch early on and went for a wild hoick. The early wickets brought the current and previous skippers, Rishabh Pant and Iyer, to the crease.

Iyer and Pant slowly rebuilt the innings and stitched a 50-run partnership. Not wanting to be bogged down in the middle-overs phase, Pant tried to break the shackles but fell to Mustafizur Rahman’s deceptive slower ball.

The dismissal impacted Iyer at the other end. He chased after a wide delivery from Rahul Tewatia but the momentum took him outside the crease. Sanju Samson made full use of the opportunity and instantly knocked out the stumps. Both of them were confident but the ‘keeper had the last laugh in the end. Replays showed Iyer was outside the crease when the bails were knocked off.

The wicket was a huge set back the DC side quite a bit as both their set batsmen were back in the pavilion in a few deliveries within each other. Nevertheless, it was a good innings from Iyer on a difficult track. He was recently dropped from the 15-member Indian squad for the T20 World Cup and was only added to the reserves. He will be looking to prove his worth in the ongoing IPL 2021 season and he has started out well so far.
