India batter Sanju Samson endured another disappointing outing, recording his second consecutive duck in the third T20I against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, July 30. Facing Chamindu Wickramasinghe, Samson misjudged a fuller-length delivery and ended up caught at deep point in the third over. In the previous match, he was clean-bowled by Maheesh Theekshana, highlighting a rough patch in his recent performances.

Samson, who earned his spot in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad, did not get an opportunity to showcase his skills during the ICC tournament. In a warm-up match against Bangladesh, he struggled as an opener, managing just 1 run off 6 balls on a challenging New York pitch.

Despite being benched throughout the T20 World Cup, Samson got his chance in the subsequent series against Zimbabwe. He seized the opportunity by scoring a half-century, earning a place in the T20I squad under the guidance of new head coach Gautam Gambhir.

However, Sanju Samson’s form faltered in the three-match series against Sri Lanka, as he failed to score in his last two outings. Samson’s omission from the ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against Sri Lanka further underscores his current struggle to find consistency.
