Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has been handed a fine of INR 12 lakh owing to the slow over-rate during the match against Punjab Kings on Tuesday. However, this is the first over-rate offence committed by the team this season.
The official statement read- “Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 match against Punjab Kings at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai on September 21.’’
‘’As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Mr Samson was fined INR 12 lakh.’’ the statement further added.

However, Sanju Samson would be happy to give the fine as his boys have snatched a win from the jaws of a certain defeat as well. The Royals have successfully defended their total of 185 courtesy to a brilliant last couple of overs by Mustafizur Rahman and the youngster Kartik Tyagi.
While defending 186, the Rajasthan Royals side looked out of the game with Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram at the crease until the 18th over. The equation was 8 runs off the last 12 balls which wasn’t at all a tough job but Mustafizur’s brilliant penultimate over made sure that Kartik Tyagi had something to defend in the final over as well.

Mustafizur had conceded just 4 runs and Tyagi did exceptionally well with his yorkers to help the Royals’ script a two-run win as well. Tyagi gave away just 1 run off his first two deliveries before dismissed a dangerous-looking Pooran, who ended up getting out to Sanju Samson. And, then he dismissed Deepak Hooda to reduce the target to 3 off the last ball.
Fabian Allen had faced the final delivery but Kartik Tyagi bowled another yorker to seal the deal for them. With this win, they are placed at the 5th spot with 8 points along with the Mumbai Indians.
