The 31-year-old is set to play a crucial role in India’s batting lineup as the team returns to T20I action following its successful ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign. India will first face Ireland in a two-match T20I series in Belfast on June 26 and 28 before travelling to England for a five-match T20I series and three ODIs.

Samson heads into the tour with plenty of confidence after producing one of the finest phases of his international career during the T20 World Cup. The right-handed batter emerged as one of India’s standout performers, particularly in the knockout stages. His match-winning 89 off just 46 balls against New Zealand in the final played a pivotal role in India’s title triumph.

The Kerala batter finished the tournament with 321 runs in five innings and was deservedly named Player of the Tournament for his consistent and impactful performances on the biggest stage.

Before returning to international duty, Samson enjoyed another productive season in the IPL. The 2026 edition marked his first campaign with Chennai Super Kings after completing a high-profile move from Rajasthan Royals.

Although he endured a slow start, registering three single-digit scores, Samson responded in style. He smashed an unbeaten 115 off 56 deliveries against Delhi Capitals before adding another century, an unbeaten 101 off 54 balls against the Mumbai Indians.

His remarkable turnaround saw him finish as Chennai Super Kings’ leading run-scorer of the season. Samson accumulated 477 runs in 14 matches at an outstanding strike rate of 165.62, underlining his value as one of the most destructive batters in T20 cricket.

While CSK endured a disappointing campaign and finished eighth on the points table, Samson’s form remained a major positive. With Ireland and England next on India’s schedule, the in-form opener will be eager to carry that momentum into international cricket once again.
