The Indian wicket-keeper batter, Sanju Samson got run-out while attempting a run that was never there n the ongoing second ODI of the three-match series against West Indies in Port of Spain on the bowling of Romario Shepherd. Just when Samson had started building a partnership for the 5th wicket with Deepak Hooda, India lost a wicket.
Earlier in the game, the Windies skipper, Nicholas Pooran won the toss and decided to bat first. Both the teams made one change each on their playing XI as Hayden Walsh junior replaced Gudakesh Motie and for India, Prasidh Krishna made way for Avesh Khan, who made his ODI debut.

West Indies posted a good total of 311/6 in their quota of 50 overs owing to a gritty century from Shai Hope and a fifty from Pooran. Coming back to the dismissal of Sanju Samson, the incident took place in the 39th over of India’s chase.
Samson had clipped the ball to short fine leg and Deepak Hooda ran through early, Samson was late to take off. The ball went straight to the fielder, which meant not much time was lost before the throw.

Romario Shepherd was at the bowler’s end and he was side-on to the left of the stumps on one knee, but the ball went off the shin to the stumps. The umpire wasn’t sure how the bails were dislodged as the ball hit the stumps or if Shepherd’s bent right shin made contact is the question. The ball was parried and made direct contact, so Sanju Samson had to make his way back to the pavilion.

Here is how the fans reacted:
It's a perfect setting for Deepak Hooda. Make India win the match and take your ticket to World Cup. Sanju Samson already missed the opportunity.
