Indian cricket has produced several young prodigies over the decades, but the rise of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi feels truly extraordinary. At just 14 years of age, the aggressive batter has already shown the kind of fearless mindset that many seasoned professionals strive to achieve. Ever since his debut for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League 2025 season, Sooryavanshi has been making headlines for his explosive batting style and remarkable confidence at the crease.

The youngster first stunned fans when he made his IPL debut against the Lucknow Super Giants at just 13 years old, becoming the youngest player to ever feature in the tournament. While most teenagers might struggle under the spotlight of such a massive stage, Sooryavanshi appeared completely unfazed, taking on experienced bowlers with bold stroke play.
His reputation grew even further after he played a starring role in India’s triumph at the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2026. In the tournament final, the young batter delivered a sensational innings of 175, breaking multiple records and cementing his status as one of the most exciting prospects in world cricket. The innings has also sparked conversations about how soon he might be ready for the senior Indian team.

Speaking during the Board of Control for Cricket in India Naman Awards, Sooryavanshi recalled a memorable interaction with former Rajasthan Royals head coach Rahul Dravid before his IPL debut.
Recalling the conversation, Sooryavanshi said: “Rahul sir asked me what’s your plan. I said, if I get the ball in my arc, I will hit.” Former Royals captain Sanju Samson, who was also present during that discussion, later shared more details about the moment. “Rahul sir called him to the meeting room. He told me, ‘Sanju, we need to talk to him, he is a very young kind. We need to tell him how to go about it.’ So, Rahul sir asked him, ‘Vaibhav, what’s your plan?’”

Samson then revealed the youngster’s fearless response. “He said, ‘Sir hum to khelenge.’ But sir asked, what was the plan. Then he said, ‘Sir, humein pehla milega to hum pehla hi uda denge.’” Samson also joked about how confidently the youngster approached the situation. “That’s exactly what he did. I said, ‘Ye to alag video game mein khel raha hai.’”
Sooryavanshi’s fearless mindset was later reflected in his performances. He smashed his maiden IPL century against the Gujarat Titans, reaching the milestone in just three innings. The hundred came off only 35 balls, making it the fastest IPL century by an Indian batter.
