Sanju Samson’s record-breaking century lit up the Kerala Cricket League 2025 on Sunday (August 24), as the Kochi Blue Tigers star played one of the finest knocks of the tournament. Batting at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, the 30-year-old smashed a breathtaking 121 runs off just 51 balls in a high-voltage chase against Aries Kollam Sailors. His innings featured 14 fours and 7 sixes, underlining his trademark aggressive flair.

Chasing a stiff 237-run target, Samson opened the innings and stormed to his century in only 42 balls, bringing the crowd to its feet. He reached the milestone with a single off Ajayaghosh N S in the 14th over. After completing his hundred, Samson soaked in the applause and shared a warm hug with his elder brother Saly Samson, who also happens to be the captain of Kochi Blue Tigers.

The emotional moment between the brothers quickly went viral after being shared by the Kerala Cricket League on social media. The thriller ended dramatically as Muhammad Ashik sealed victory with a last-ball six, helping Kochi Blue Tigers clinch a memorable four-wicket win.

Samson’s IPL franchise, Rajasthan Royals, also joined the celebrations, posting multiple tributes on X (formerly Twitter) to acknowledge their captain’s stunning knock.

However, Samson’s heroics come against the backdrop of speculation about his future with Rajasthan Royals. Reports in recent weeks have hinted at a rift between the Kerala star and the RR management. Cricbuzz even reported that Samson expressed his desire to move on, either through a trade or release, before the IPL 2026 mini-auctions.

Despite the uncertainty, Samson’s legacy at Rajasthan Royals remains unmatched. In 149 IPL matches, he has scored 4027 runs, including two centuries and 23 fifties—the most by any RR batter. He is also the only player to cross the 4000-run mark for the franchise.

Retained for ₹18 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, Samson has captained RR in 67 games, winning 33 of them—the highest by any Rajasthan Royals skipper. With form on his side and leadership experience under his belt, Sanju Samson continues to remain at the heart of both Kerala cricket and Rajasthan Royals’ future.
