Sanju Samson roared back to form with a stunning century on Saturday (October 12) during the third India vs Bangladesh T20I at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. After a series of disappointing performances in recent matches, the right-handed batsman had been under immense pressure leading up to the game.

Before this knock, Samson had struggled with the bat, getting out for a duck in both T20Is against Sri Lanka in July. In the ongoing series against Bangladesh, he failed to make a significant impact, scoring 29 runs in the first T20I in Gwalior and just 10 in the second game in Delhi. His poor run of form led to calls for him to be dropped from the team. However, the team management trusted him, and Samson repaid that faith in spectacular fashion.

Samson got off to a flying start, hitting four consecutive boundaries in the second over, setting the tone for his innings. He reached his half-century in the seventh over, smashing two fours and a six in quick succession. It took him only 22 deliveries to bring up his fifty, a much-needed milestone that brought visible relief.

His rare show of emotion—letting out a roar and punching the air—captured just how much this knock meant to him. The Kerala star didn’t stop there. He continued to dominate the Bangladeshi bowlers, hitting five consecutive sixes off Rishad Hossain in the 10th over to move into the 90s.

He reached his maiden T20I century in the 13th over, flicking a boundary off Mahedi Hasan’s first delivery. While Samson had celebrated his fifty with passion, his century celebration was more composed—a broad smile on his face as he was embraced by captain Suryakumar Yadav, signifying the immense weight lifted off his shoulders.
