In nine IPL matches, Samson has amassed an impressive 385 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 161.08. His stellar form not only secured his place in the T20 World Cup squad but also cemented his position as India’s second-choice wicketkeeper behind Rishabh Pant. However, with the World Cup looming, the challenges for Samson are far from over.

Questions arise about his role in the star-studded Indian middle-order, competing with the likes of Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Shivam Dube. Yet, as the spotlight shines on him, Samson remains unfazed, focusing on his immediate task at hand – leading Rajasthan Royals to glory in the IPL.

Reflecting on the upcoming challenges, Samson acknowledges the importance of batting positions but emphasizes the team’s collective goal of clinching the IPL title. “That’s a very tricky question,” Sanju Samson remarked in an interview with Star Sports.

“We definitely were thinking about it; everyone is thinking about the batting positions… But equally, I feel it is also important for the team that they try to win the IPL. As of now, winning the IPL is more important. The players should focus on that goal only,” he added.

Under Samson’s leadership, Rajasthan Royals have enjoyed a remarkable run in the IPL 2024, currently sitting atop the points table with eight wins from nine matches. Their consistent performance over the past few seasons reflects Samson’s astute captaincy.
