Sanju Samson was one of the unfortunate cricketers to miss out on selection for the 2023 ODI World Cup squad. The Kerala cricketer was a part of the Indian setup as a traveling reserve during the Asia Cup 2023, but his services weren’t required in the tournament. Despite missing out on World Cup selection, Samson showed his class by sharing a picture of himself with the Indian team during a warm-up game in Thiruvananthapuram, his hometown.
The Rajasthan Royals captain wrote: “With Team India @ God’s own country !!”. Samson’s gesture was lauded by fans, who praised him for his support for the Indian team. “Sanju Samson is a true team player,” wrote one fan on social media. “Even though he didn’t make the World Cup squad, he’s still cheering on his teammates. That’s the kind of spirit we need in our team.”
Another fan wrote: “Sanju Samson is a class act. He’s a great player and a great teammate. He deserves to be in the World Cup squad, but he’s not going to let that get him down. He’s still supporting the team and that’s what matters most.”

“Sanju Samson is a gem of a player,” said former India captain Sunil Gavaskar. “He’s one of the most talented batsmen in the world. It’s unfortunate that he didn’t make the World Cup squad, but he’s shown his class by supporting the team. I’m sure he’ll get his chance in the future.”
Samson’s exclusion from the World Cup squad was a surprise to many, given his impressive form in recent months. He averaged 55.71 in ODIs in 2023, and he was also one of the top performers in the IPL.
However, Samson remains a vital part of the Indian team, and he is sure to play a key role in the future. He is a young and talented player with a lot of potential. He is also a team player, and he is always willing to put the team first.
