During a chat with Cricket Pakistan, Mushtaq said, “Australian spinner Nathan Lyon is giving good performances, He bowled well against England, Pakistan and even India. There is not a bigger spinner than Ravichandran Ashwin in home conditions. He does well in overseas matches as well but he is the best in home conditions. If you talk about the shorter version then India’s Kuldeep Yadav is very good. I really like him a lot, he has a big heart.

During the course of the interview, Mushtaq was asked about the comparisons between Pakistan’s newly-appointed ODI captain Babar Azam and the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli. Saqlain was not in favor of comparing the two Kohli was much more experienced than Babar but added that the “calmness” of Babar Azam gave him an edge over “aggressive India captain.

Mushtaq elaborated, “Both are great players, with a great technique, and are mentally very strong. Kohli is more aggressive while Babar is humble. Babar’s calmness gives him an edge over Virat Kohli. If we look at what sports science, it tells us that the aggressive and the clam ones succeed and not those who are in the middle of these two traits.”

He further added, “But comparing Babar with Kohli is unfair because the latter has been performing for a very long time, all over the world. I am not sure about the physical side, Virat Kohli looks strong. Babar is also lean and looks fit but don’t know for how long.”

Notably, during a recent interview, Saqlain Mushtaq had termed Kohli’s wicket as equal to the wickets of the whole team.

Saqlain recalled, “Yeh ek nahin, yeh gyarah hai (he is equal to 11 players). I would just tell them (Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid) Virat’s wicket is like bowling out the entire Indian team. He is like XI players in one, you have to see him like that.”
