Mumbai batsman Sarfaraz Khan, once again overlooked by selectors for India’s Test squad against England, made a powerful statement with a stellar performance in the ongoing two-day practice match between India A and England Lions in Ahmedabad. Sarfaraz, batting at No. 4 for India A led by Abhimanyu Easwaran, showcased his prowess by scoring a magnificent 96 runs from 110 balls on Saturday.
During his innings, Sarfaraz displayed exquisite shot-making, accumulating 11 fours and one six. His impressive knock comes as a reminder of his consistent performances, underscoring his desire for a spot in the Indian Test team—a call-up that has eluded him for the past three years.

Joining Sarfaraz Khan in the run feast, Madhya Pradesh batter Rajat Patidar notched up a century in the ongoing match. Opening the innings alongside Easwaran, Patidar scored a splendid 111 runs from 141 balls, adorned with 18 fours and one six. The right-hander formed crucial partnerships, contributing 73 runs for the first wicket with Easwaran and 57 runs for the second wicket with Tamil Nadu batter Pradosh Ranjan Paul.

After Paul’s departure, Rajat Patidar combined forces with Sarfaraz, adding 80 runs for the third wicket. Sarfaraz continued his fine form, and the partnership was eventually broken by Callum Parkinson, who dismissed Patidar. KS Bharat also made a noteworthy contribution, crafting 64 runs from 69 balls and forming a substantial 121-run partnership with Sarfaraz for the fourth wicket.

On the first day of the match, former India U-19 cricketer Manav Suthar shone with the ball, taking three wickets for 45 runs in 11 overs. His efforts, combined with contributions from Akash Deep, Pulkit Narang, Tushar Deshpande, and Vidwath Kaverappa, helped India A dismiss the England Lions for 233 runs in 51.1 overs.
