Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan had an emotional celebration after Mumbai’s historic Irani Trophy victory, dedicating his triumph to his injured brother, Musheer Khan. This win marked the end of a 27-year wait for the prestigious trophy by the Mumbai cricket team, and Sarfaraz’s match-winning double-century was the standout performance of the game.

The victory held deeper meaning for the Khan family, as Musheer was absent from the tournament due to a serious car accident. He and their father, Naushad Khan, were involved in a tragic accident while travelling from Azamgarh to Lucknow.

The vehicle flipped multiple times, leaving Musheer with a neck fracture, while their father fortunately escaped with minor injuries. Despite this family setback, Sarfaraz delivered a spectacular unbeaten innings of 222 runs, laced with 25 boundaries and four sixes, helping Mumbai dominate the match.

In his post-match interview, Sarfaraz Khan dedicated his stunning performance to Musheer. “This trophy is the team’s, but I promised at home that I would make a hundred for Musheer. This one is for him,” Sarfaraz Khan shared emotionally with the broadcaster.

Reflecting on his growth as a player, Sarfaraz Khan emphasized the importance of sticking to the process and continually improving his game. He highlighted the guidance he received from senior players and his efforts to address his weaknesses.

“I try to follow the process and whatever I have done with my Abbu. You get used to how wickets play all over India. It’s essential to work on your game and learn from how the seniors approach theirs,” he added.
