Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed recently compared Fakhar Zaman’s brilliant run out technique during the recent T20I match against Australia at Dubai with South African legend Jonty Rhodes’ fielding efforts. In result, the Pakistan skipper faced some criticism in social media sites for his comment.

Recently, on last Friday, during the second T20I of three-match T20I series between Pakistan and Australia at Dubai, Fakhar Zaman made a stunning run-out to Ben McDermott. Chasing down the 148-run target that was set by Pakistan, Australia had a tough start as they were losing wickets in regular intervals.

In the 14th over of Australian innings, the new batsman Ben McDermott faced that dismissal. In that quick single attempt, Zaman rushed towards the ball and after grabbing that, he threw to the non-striker end wicket with his left-hand in the diving motion and that ball directly hit the stumps in the perfect way while McDermott was well short of the crease. There was no confusion on that incident as everyone clearly knew that it was an out.

While Pakistan fielding is generally known for making funny mistakes and poor showcases, this was truly rare and brilliant. But the Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed remarked that Zaman’s effort better than South African legend Jonty Rhodes’ fielding quality.

At the post-match press-conference, the Pakistan skipper commented, “I feel, the way Fakhar Zaman affected that run-out, even Jonty Rhodes has never pulled off anything like this.”

However, Fakhar Zaman was truly brilliant on the field on that day. Though the Pakistan opener scored only 11 runs in that game, his brilliant fielding effort became worth for his team hugely. In a reply against Pakistan’s 147/6 (20 overs), Australia restricted to 136/8 at the end 20 overs and Pakistan won the game by 11 runs. This victory also secured Pakistan’s series victory as they are leading the three-match T20I series by 2-0 after the second T20I.
