Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed’s career was expected to be in a jeopardy by making the racial comments against Andile Phehlukwayo during the second ODI against South Africa in Durban. He had called him ‘Black’ during the 37th over of the second innings when the Proteas were running away with the match.
After the match, the video of the same went viral and even the ICC took note of the same with Sarfraz also issuing the public apology saying that he didn’t intend to hurt anyone. The investigation is still going on in the matter. Meanwhile, ahead of the third ODI, Pakistan skipper showed big heart to apologize Phehlukwayo personally and also shook hands with him.

The South African all-rounder was also gracious to forgive him as the matter looks to have shut down as far as the teams are concerned. Sarfaraz informed the same to his followers and once again apologized to the South African public.

Meanwhile, the South African skipper Faf du Plessis had clarified that they have forgiven Sarfaraz Ahmed for his comments as he apologized and took responsibility for it. But he also made it very clear that they don’t take such things lightly and one has to be careful while making racist comments, especially in South Africa.

During the pre-match press conference, Faf said, “This is not something that we take lightly as a team‚ but the fact that Sarfaraz apologized straight away means there is regret from his part. When you come to South Africa‚ you have to be very careful when you go to racial comments. We forgive Sarfaraz because he said sorry. He has apologized and taken responsibility for it‚ it is out of our hands and ICC will have to deal with it now.”
It will be interesting to see now what step will ICC take on the matter as the Pakistan skipper has definitely breached the code of conduct.
