Well, in this overabundance of thoughts, beliefs, and suggestions, who would have thought that one day a 12-year-old will predict a hat-trick in Indian Premier League.
Steve Smith, Faf du Plessis and Jaydev Unadkat from Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) had an interaction with the children at the Apang Kalyankari Shikshan Sanstha (APSS) in Pune. One of those kids named, Omkar Pawar put his confidence on display and he even advised the left arm pacer to ball with the cross seam delivery. Fascinated with his unabashedness, Unadkat called the boy on the stage was called on the stage reconfirmed with Pawar how should he bowl and the kid replied – “Aise karne ka” (Bowl like this). The kid wasn’t having an idea that he was being listened to carefully!
In the very next match of Pune against SRH, Unadkat took a hat-trick by bowling cross-seam deliveries and his scalps were Bipul Sharma, Rashid Khan, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. This came in the last over of the second innings when Sunrisers Hyderabad was chasing 149 and needed 13 off the last over.
After taking the hat-trick, the left-hand pacer completed 100 wickets in T20s. He finished the match with the figures of 4-0-30-5, as he also took a 5-wicket haul. Soon after the match, Unadkat took to his Instagram account and posted a video thanking and crediting Omkar for his excellent performance. Moral of the story is that any advice can be valuable and you never know, it may help the owner to reach an unexpected feat!
