While the BCCI’s Special General Meeting (SGM) had been held recently in New Delhi on June 22, the attended board members have asked BCCI to carry the expenses of that meeting. However, SC appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) hadn’t approved that meeting as they instructed the members to stay away from that meeting.
According to The Indian Express, an SGM resolution said, “Resolved that entire costs of this requisitioned General Body meeting for which 28 nominations were received will be borne by the BCCI. Resolved further to record with regret the fact that no officials were present nor that any official records available to assist the General Body as a result of directives issued.”
Meanwhile, CoA head Vinod Rai hasn’t wanted to speak anything about that without going through the resolution, but he has also mentioned that the SGM didn’t exist according to his concern.
Rai quoted on that, “Let the resolution come to us. We will take a view on it. But as far as we are concerned, the SGM didn’t exist.”
Meanwhile, another resolution claimed that the members agreed that the Members Participation Agreement (MPA) regarding to the Indian team’s participation in ICC events, “shall not be executed without the authorization of the General Body of the BCCI and the Board reserves its rights regarding MPA and its participation in any other multi-nation tournament or games not covered by it”.
In that meeting, the members also spoke about the Ranji trophy format as they want to bring back the two-tier systems – Elite and Plate group formats. In that resolution, they mentioned that the Elite Group should consist with the teams who are currently playing the Ranji Trophy while the Plate Group should consist with the new teams like Bihar and the North-Eastern states.
