As the inaugural Major League Cricket (MLC) season reaches its climax, the intensity of matches and performances of star players have reached new heights. San Francisco Unicorns’ all-rounder and spin wizard, Shadab Khan, delivered what could be considered one of the best deliveries of the tournament against Texas Super Kings (TSK).
Facing TSK’s all-rounder, Mitchell Santner, Shadab Khan bowled an unplayable turner that squared up the batsman and shattered the stumps. Santner was trying to chase down the target of 172 runs alongside Milind Kumar, but the Unicorns’ bowlers were putting up a strong performance.

In the third over, Shadab, who had already dismissed a set batter in Devon Conway, bowled a googly that left Santner completely baffled. The New Zealander failed to read the delivery, and it crashed into the stumps, leaving him no chance to recover. However, luck turned against Shadab later on when he faced the onslaught of TSK’s Daniel Sams.

Sams played an exceptional innings, hitting the ball all around the park and changing the course of the game. He scored a blistering 42 runs off just 18 balls, smashing four sixes and two fours. To make matters worse for Shadab, three of those massive sixes came in successive deliveries of his last over. Despite his impressive efforts, TSK emerged victorious in a closely contested match with five deliveries to spare.
Daniel Sams rightfully earned the player of the match award for his outstanding knock and his earlier contribution of picking up two wickets. With this win, Texas Super Kings became the third team to secure their spot in the MLC 2023 playoffs. On the other hand, San Francisco Unicorns’ fate is now dependent on supporting the Seattle Orcas to secure a convincing victory against MI New York to qualify for the playoffs.
