Bollywood superstar and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) co-owner Shah Rukh Khan has officially unveiled the Knight Riders Cricket Ground in California, the venue set to host cricket matches during the **Los Angeles 2028 Olympics**. The announcement marks a historic milestone, with cricket returning to the Olympic Games for the first time in 128 years after its only previous appearance at the 1900 Paris Olympics.

Sharing the news through a video on social media, Shah Rukh welcomed fans to the new stadium while thanking ICC Chairman Jay Shah and ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta for their support in bringing the project to life.

“What started as a dream turns into reality today. Welcoming you all to the Knight Riders Cricket Ground, LA,”* Shah Rukh said. He described the venue as more than just a cricket stadium, calling it a destination for sports, entertainment, families, and unforgettable memories.

 

The video also featured stars from the Knight Riders’ global franchises, including Sunil Narine and Ali Khan, celebrating the group’s growing footprint in world cricket. Addressing supporters, Shah Rukh added, “This is for LA, for cricket fans across the globe, and for the Knight Riders family. Believe in Purple and Gold.”

According to Cricbuzz, the Knight Riders Group has invested $21 million to build the state-of-the-art facility at Fairplex in Pomona, California. The stadium will become the home venue of the Los Angeles Knight Riders in Major League Cricket (MLC) and will also serve as the cricket venue for the 2028 Olympics.

The ground will initially accommodate 5,000 spectators before expanding to 12,000 seats by 2027 and 15,000 by the 2028 Olympics, underlining cricket’s growing presence in the United States.
