Shahbaz Nadeem Joins India Squad for Ranchi Test

Shahbaz Nadeem, the left-arm spinner, has been named in India’s Test squad for the third and final Test against South Africa in Ranchi which will be starting from October 19. The experienced spinner was included to the squad after another spinner Kuldeep Yadav has suffered a shoulder problem.

Nadeem, who made his first-class debut in 2004 for Jharkhand against Kerala and picked up 424 wickets so far at an average of over 28. During the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons, he was the highest wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy and ended with 51 and 56 wickets respectively.

In the last season, he took 37 wickets. The slow left-arm orthodox bowler has also been in great form as he picked up 15 wickets during India A’s tour of West Indies this year. Shahbaz Nadeem is also a handy batsman at the lower down the order. He has scored seven half-centuries and one century in first-class matches so far.

India have already won the three-match Test series by 2-0. The first Tests was in Visakhapatnam and the second one was in Pune.
