India and Pakistan have been at loggerheads with each other regarding the occupancy of Kashmir ever since the partition back in 1947. The neighboring countries nations have been involved in as many three wars, which also includes the one in Kargil in 1999. The situation in the state has gone bad to worse over the years and the scenario doesn’t seem to improve by any stretch of the imagination.

In the meantime, Shahid Afridi, the former Pakistani all-rounder, reckons that his country doesn’t require Kashmir for the reason that the war-stricken nation has failed to manage it’s four provinces namely Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunwa.

Moreover, he went on to say that even India shouldn’t be handed over Kashmir as he has called for the state to be allowed to develop as an independent country.

During a recent media interaction, Afridi said, “Pakistan does not need Kashmir; It is not able to even handle the four provinces it has. Neither India nor Pakistan should be given control of Kashmir, instead, Kashmir should be allowed to evolve as an independent country.”

Earlier in April, Afridi expressed his opinions about the Indian occupied area of Kashmir and urged a few organizations to put a halt to the shambolic situation there. However, the comments didn’t go down well with people in India and he became a recipient of a severe amount of criticism from eminent personalities as well as commoners.

He took to Twitter and wrote, “Appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in the Indian Occupied Kashmir. Innocents being shot down by oppressive regime to clamp voice of self-determination & independence. Wonder where is the @UN & other int bodies & why aren’t they making efforts to stop this bloodshed?” he had written on the social media platform.
