Former New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris has recently said that Punjab Kings player Shahrukh Khan has the ability to become a great finisher like Hardik Pandya in the future. However, he again shared that he should play and develop at his own speed as well. Notably, Punjab Kings bought Shahrukh Khan for a whopping Rs. 5.25 crore during IPL 2021 mini-auction.

Although Shahrukh Khan didn’t score big in IPL 2021 so far, he could manage quick runs in the death overs. So far, he has scored 103 runs in 5 innings at an average of 34 while batting at lower middle-order. In one match, he scored 47 runs as well. However, he has played at a good strike rate of over 135. Moreover, he hit 6 sixes and has also shown that he has the ability to become a finisher.

“I don’t want to compare anyone with Kieron Pollard, he’s 6 foot 5, he’s huge. Shahrukh Khan is a big guy as well. Maybe he can look to aspire to be like Hardik Pandya. I’ve seen a lot of Shahrukh Khan because of my commentary days with the Tamil Nadu Premier League and he was a powerful striker of the ball in that league,” Scott Styris said.

Styris also added that no one should put a lot of pressure on his shoulders and he should be allowed to develop his game at his own speed.

“I think that’s a lot of pressure to put on his shoulders. I would want to back up that truck a little bit and say no. Just let him play and develop! People develop at different speeds as well. He might take two-three-four seasons to get to a point where he is a reliable finisher,” Scott Styris further added.

Meanwhile, Punjab Kings have had a rather forgettable start in IPL 2021 so far. They have only managed to win 2 matches out of 6 and placed at the 6th spot in the points table with 4 points. Punjab Kings will next play against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 30 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
