Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will start their campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday, April 11. Ahead of the much-awaited clash, KKR captain Eoin Morgan welcomed Bangladesh all-rounder  Shakib Al Hasan and said that his addition to the squad for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 will be helpful.

Morgan further added that he will be a big boost to the line-up while playing at different venues and also hopeful of a great start with the presence of Shakib and Sunil Narine in the set-up. KKR bought Shakib Al Hasan for Rs 3.2 crore. He missed IPL 2020 due to a ban over him and earlier played for Sunrisers Hyderabad as well.

“Given that we have a bit more travel this year and we go from venue to venue, it’s important to have strength and depth in the squad. Shakib Al Hasan gives us a different dynamic in the team,” Eoin Morgan told KKR’s official website.

“Given that we play at different venues where the conditions change quite a lot, you have a spin bowling all-rounder who had success in international cricket and IPL at different stages. If called upon, he can definitely deliver,” he again shared.

However, this is going to be a contest between two high-quality spin-bowling attacks on Sunday as both KKR and SRH will play at the spin-friendly track at Chepauk. Meanwhile, Morgan believes that KKR have a strong attack to beat SRH in Chennai, although the captain is missing the advantage of playing in front of the home fans at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

It is also noteworthy that, no team in IPL 2021 can have the advantage of playing at the home ground as neutral venues have been chosen amid the crunch time of the global pandemic novel COVID-19.

“I think every team misses their fans. For us, Eden is such a special place. It is not only renowned around the world but also in Indian cricket holds a massive place in people’s hearts,” Eoin Morgan concluded.
